Idea 1

This idea will be targeted more towards older people so from 30s to 50s since its a weatherman show which are usually watched by mums and dads so both genders. They would need a 20,000-30,000 year salary at least since they would need to pay for cable and a TV in order to watch the show. All sexuality's can watch the show as well as any religion or race because its about the weather and doesn't focus on either. This will be targeted more at the UK since its set and being made in it and its about the weather in England. They could have a healthy lifestyle since they want to know what the weather is like so they can exercise or they have to work and want to know what the drive is going to be like.

demographic is the relating to structure of populations so the religion, ethnicity or nationality.

Psychographic profile  is used to describe traits so the persons lifestyle or interests.

In this video there are two camera shots, one shooting a medium long shot of the news hosts and another camera shooting a wide shot of the weather lady. Id say the demographic gender would be 50/50 so both women and men who are of the age of 30-70. The psychographic graph would be people who watch the weather news often have a healthily lifestyle because they want to know what the weather is like for them to go out in so they are more of outdoor people. Instead of just one camera shooting at the weather lady Id have two, one shooting at the weather board and one shooting a wide shot of me. Overall the demographic and psychographic graph are the same as my idea.

Idea 2

This idea will be targeted more towards people in their early teens to there mid 20's since we will be talking about funny things that have happened to us in the past. They would need a 20,000-30,000 a year salary to be able to afford cable and a tv to watch the show. All sexuality's can watch the show as well as any religion or race so a lot like my first idea. This will be targeted at the UK since they would understand the humor. There lifestyle could be lazy since there watching a funny talk show indoors. This will be aimed more at men but women can still watch but I personally think men would like it more.

In this joe rogan podcast there talking about funny things they did growing up which is like what I would be doing. There are three cameras, there is one camera shooting a medium shot of joe rogan and another doing the same the guests he has on, this is to get there facial expressions and reactions, there's also a wide shot of both of them from a side profile so you can get there reactions to them telling a story. Id say the podcast is aimed more towards 18-50 year olds just because there telling story's from when they are kids and joe rogan is quite old.

Idea 3 (my chosen idea)

My chosen idea will be targeted towards teens and elderly people since its teens on the show that will interest teenager and older people usually watch game shows. This will be aimed at both genders doesn't focus more on a specific one. They would need around a 20,000-30,000 a year salary so like the other 2 ideas I had just enough money to be able to afford a house/mortgage and cable for a television. Any race, sexuality or religion can watch because it doesn't focus on either. The quiz show ill be aimed more at the UK just because of the questions I am going to ask will be UK based mainly. There interests would be quiz's since its a quiz show.

How does my multi camera piece communicate with the audience?

convention analyze

what is the mise en scene

show examples, compare it to yours

codes and conventions

introduction sequence

visual code is what you I say

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br-6sH4xsxQ

The piece I have chosen for an example similar to my chosen Idea is called catchphrase. In the introduction to the quiz show there's a 10 second intro which would fall under graphics. The camera panels in from a distance giving you a glance of everyone in there, we are then welcomed by the host who will usually tell a joke to warm up the crowd which he does. There's then many medium camera shots of the individual's when they introduce themselves, they tell the audience what they do for a living to give us there demographic profile. From what I can work out is that there are three camera's one pointing at the host at all times, one shooting a wide shot of all the contestants and one that changes to each contestant individually. The host himself looks very energetic and he likes to make jokes from what the contestants have said, Id say he looks trustworthy.  The setting of the show is very colorful, the contestants have to stand where as when I do my quiz show they will sit. In a studio its usually bright from all the lighting and from what I can see it looks bright enough so the audience can see everyone well. The audience are made to feel welcome, we can hear them laugh throughout the show because the host will make a joke or a contestant will say something funny.

My Research strategy

for my secondary research I plan to find other quiz shows from YouTube, by researching other quiz show's I can see the different camera angles they use, how they introduce the quiz show and contestants and how the host grabs the audiences attention so it gives me a lot of ideas for my project. This would fall under qualitative because it is not statistical because I am finding the information through a quiz show that has already happened, that is why this also falls under objective data because its facts we know who the show would be targeted at.

For my primary research I plan to do a survey to support my secondary research. I can also from this get an idea for my projects target audience so I know who to aim it at and who would be interested in watching my quiz show. This would fall under quantitative data because its a survey so it will be statistical. This would also fall under subjective because it takes lots of peoples opinions on quiz shows so some people may like them and some people may not so its subjective data.

Qualitative data is non-statistical and is typically unstructured or semi-structured in nature. This data isn't necessarily measured using hard numbers used to measure graphs and charts but instead it is categorized based on properties, attributes, labels and other identifiers for example a wooden table would be that its made of wood, its smooth, it smells like oak. This can all be generated through texts, documents, video/audio recordings, images, observations and notes.

Quantitative data is statistical and is typically measured using numbers and values which makes it more suitable for data analysis, this can be generated through surveys, tests and market reports.

Dont forget to add to padlet

queer gaze

female gaze

what is heteronormative social construct

How were queer characters portrayed in TV since the beginning of television

what is queer theory and how is it applied in TV? sitcom?

male gaze theory

the male gaze theory is that men portray women as sexual objects for pleasure from a heterosexual perspective, my project idea will not focus on this because it will be a quiz show with male contestants and host.

Female gaze theory

The female gaze theory is a theory that women also portray men sexually, this will also not focus on my project because on quiz shows the contestants wont be revealing, this theory is usually used by feminists.

Queer gaze theory

heteronormative is the belief that heterosexuality is the default, preferred sexuality and that sexual relations are most fitting between two people of the opposite sex.

Queer characters in TV are always portrayed to have a jazzy personality, and its almost as if there sexuality is the main focus of there personality.

The queer theory implies that the queer community shouldn't be stereotyped for example in TV shows a gay man shouldn't have to be focused on as gay like a heterosexual person wouldn't, if that makes sense. So what they want is for homosexuality should be normalized like being a heterosexual person.

My project won't involve any of the gaze theory's since what I am doing is a quiz show and all though the host and contestants are males it wont be sexualized because it not a revealing show like Baywatch for example its just a casual quiz show.

Construction is the choices of images

Mediation is how it is written and re written (how they are portrayed)

Selection is the certain facts over other facts

Anchorage is the words you see that sit along images you see What is a stereotype? add a definition of what it is.

Ideology is the idea or ideas held by crew- the producer will determine what you are seeing which will create an unusual mixture of programmes.

Absence

Presents

Market segmentation

My primary audience will be mostly males aged 17-50 since my quiz show will involve sports questions which men are usually more interested in. The reason I have made such a big age gap is because the younger audience will also be interested in the fact that the contestant's are young but the older aged males are interested in sports anyway. The younger audience will have a low income from the fact they will only have a part time job which doesn't pay a lot and they will also be having to pay for uni expenses. The older audience will be low middle class with a salary between 25-35 thousand a year since usually people who are interested in sports go to the pub and statistically there wages will be around that much. This will be targeted more towards the UK because they will understand the questions and humor more. The younger audience have an active lifestyle whereas the older audience just watches it.

A. watches sports regularly

I. interested in sports quiz's

O. supports a sports team

This is very helpful for my research into the multi cam project as I am doing a sports quiz show, this project will focus mainly on different category's of sports, mainly ones the contestants will not struggle with so football, rugby or tennis these are usually watched in the UK.

Improved market segmentation

My name is Tristan Jack and for my proposed Tv programme I am going to be doing a quiz show, the quiz show will involve questions related to sports mainly football, tennis and rugby. There will be two contestants, the contestants will each take a turn in answering some sports related questions whoever answers 10 of them correctly the fastest wins. People who watch these different sports are usually male's aged between 17-50, the younger audience will have a low income from low experience because of their age whereas the older demographic will have a 25-35 thousand a year salary because they are much older and nearly at the age of retirement so they will have a decent paying job by the age of 50. The sports subjects are most popular in the UK so it will be aimed at people who are in the UK.

Now on to the Psychographics, this includes the audiences lifestyle which will differ depending on their age so the younger audience will have an active lifestyle because they're young and probably play sports or go to the gym whereas the older audience will not be so active because they're quite old so they will not be as active as the younger audience. The audience will be sports fans which either watch football, rugby or tennis. Football is a worldwide watched sport but its most popular in the UK so that's why I have aimed it at the UK as well as the fact my quiz show will be based in the UK.

This is very helpful for my research into the multi cam project because it will really help me into recording and editing my project.

Thank you for listening.

Anchorage and mediation

Anchorage is very important of portraying the meaning of media text, without it the audience could interpret a text in any way they choose, media products can anchor a TV program or video game by using certain camera angles to give us a particular perception of what the producer wants us to see, this is what I will be doing in my quiz show, Ill only be showing certain shots of the studio to make it look like a game show. I will be using lighting to bright up the studio like other quiz shows do and I will also be using certain props like a clipboard to hold the questions or maybe cards.

Survey results

From my survey results I was able to gather that my demographic was mainly white heterosexual non religious and below the age of 25 with a household income of 35,000 and above. So from this information I am able to know who I am going to aim my piece at, unfortunately most of the people who answered the survey said they weren't really interested in sports but they did did say they sometimes watch quiz shows, so because my target audience are young I am going to try and make it engaging by using young contestant's so they feel more involved with the quiz show.
