evaluation
For my multi-cam idea I felt it was important to chose an idea that I would be able to achieve multi-cam with the limited equipment and locations. I had many ideas but decided to go with a sports quiz show, My first idea was to do a weather show but because of the circumstances due to covid I was unable to take equipment home, I could of used my phone but I felt it wouldn't look as good and I also did not have a stand for it. My second idea was to do a talk show and I was torn between a quiz show and a talk show both of them were doable but I decided to go with a quiz show because I had good idea's for props (quiz show cards etc) and it was much easier to achieve multi cam.
for my research I looked at multiple quiz show's which I could analyze such as the chase, tenable etc. These shows gave me a good understanding of how I was going to shoot my piece. When looking at these shows I noticed the host always wears a suit which is what I decided to do in my multi-cam piece to look professional for my audience and I picked up the host's characteristics from the hand movements, tone etc and this is all to keep the audience engaged. There are always intro's and outro's in game show's so I created one on an app called intromaker. I would usually use adobe premier pro but I was unable to power that software on my laptop which is why I also had to film the project using an app called zoom where you can have multiple people in a call on show at once so I was still able to achieve multi-cam decpite all the limited equipment and software I had due to covid 19 causing the colleges to shut so I was unable to take out any equipment.
The production all went really well apart from that the audio decided not to pick up the first time we filmed the quiz show so we had to do it all again but It wasn't to bad since I was still able to get my contestant's to do it again another day. We resolved the audio issue by getting Adam a fellow contestant to record it on zoom on his laptop because you can actually screen record on zoom but only on computers or laptop's which I didn't realize and ended up using a record screen app the first time which did not pick up any audio but at least I was able to get a practice run done first to prepare the contestant's of what it is going to be about. The second time we filmed there were no issues and it actually went really well which is most likely because of the first run we did. The finished multi-cam piece turned out to be really good, I was given positive feedback from people who watched the piece which they said the title card looked really professional for the limited software I had and that you could clearly see I had used multi-cam in my piece because you could see three different camera angles. The only criticism I got was that I could of cut to the different shots individually which I agree on and will make sure to do that in future projects.
For my primary research I asked people to take part in a survey so I could get a good understanding of my target audience's demographic which gave me a good understanding of who I aimed my piece which was mainly teenagers from the UK since they would understand the questions more because sports is very popular here and they would understand the humor.
My planning page included my location recce which was done for my bedroom in my house because of covid 19 I had to go with my plan B which was to film it at home in my bedroom. Since I was the host of the game show I needed just a short script to introduce the quiz show and to explain what It was about. We also used s website called pad let which we described what anchorage and mediation is which I used in my multi-cam piece unfortunately because of covid 19 I wasn't able to use it to the best of my ability because I was only limited to my house and my phone. I still managed to use the multi cam angles to make it look and feel like a real quiz show. In the quiz show you see me wearing a suit to indicate that I am the host of the quiz show, I even have quiz cards which are considered props for the quiz show.

ReplyDeleteResearch page includes some audience research but this has not been interpreted yet as to how you will apply this in your piece. Also show links to sources.
Work on evaluation with peer support… run it past them. Concentrate upon your production page… photos/screen grabs of the edit/FX … show and explain/evidence your learning… what happened to the plan due to lockdown rules and how did this affect your shoot/edit? Then move onto Evaluation using Rolfe et al notes from sessions.
Just needs more detail in certain areas i feel.
ReplyDeleteWhat were the reasons you chose a quiz show over your other ideas?
What specifically did you learn from your similar media analysis and how did you apply to your piece.
You say you had problems with audio, how did you fix it?
Would also add a paragraph a sa summary at the end on what you did or didnt like about this project? What skills/info did you learn and how will this be applied to FMP?
